BASHA

BASHA is the creator of Absgraff® (Abstract Graffiti), a visual language developed in 2013 that merges the immediacy of graffiti with the discipline of minimal abstraction. Rooted in graffiti, streetwear, and hip-hop culture, Absgraff® has evolved into a contemporary practice defined by repetition, restraint, and originality.

Working primarily in black and white, BASHA's paintings explore gesture, rhythm, memory, and the relationship between chaos and order. Every work is an original, hand-executed composition that reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, permanence, and the enduring value of the artist's hand.

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, BASHA's artistic foundation was shaped by the graffiti he encountered in New York City during the early 1990s while attending middle school in neighboring New Jersey. Combined with influences from modern architecture and abstract expressionism, those formative experiences evolved into the visual language that would later become Absgraff®.

His work has been featured in Salt Lake Magazine, 15 Bytes, and Voyage Utah, and published in Art of Everyday Joe and Art for the People by Michael K. Corbin. Beyond his studio practice, BASHA is the founder of Art Over Destruction, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to art and creative education through community-based initiatives.
